Renae Abboud (President)
Renae's CV

Renae has always had an innate ability to work with children. As a high-school student she knew exactly what she wanted to study in college. She prepared herself by working with children in preschools and elementary schools as an intern student-teacher. She was always called upon to babysit neighborhood and family children and she was driven by her determination to help students succeed in school.

As a native pacific-northwestern, Renae carefully selected the University of Portland for her degree program in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Renae completed her degree and was selected as the recipient of the Virginia Wales Teacher Award. After completion of her degree and initial teacher licensure in Oregon , Renae moved to the Washington DC metro area of Northern Virginia and worked as an elementary school teacher in Fairfax County . Renae worked hand-in-hand with the support staff of her students (ESL teachers, counselors, and special education teachers) to support students as best she could. Renae also worked with a team of teachers to provide parents with workshops that helped support the home-environment by educating parents and providing them with ideas and tips for supporting students with their educational success.

Renae left teaching when she decided to stay at home to raise her children. She then worked with a charter school in Pennsylvania as a point-of-contact for parents who home-school their children and provided support to the parents in how to best deliver education to their children. Renae received her teaching license in both Virginia and Pennsylvania during these years. Renae attended the University of Maryland University College and received her Masters of Education in Instructional Technology. During the same time, Renae continued to work with the schools in providing educational support to students in their home. With the success of her tutoring with students, Renae determined what made her tutoring role a success and took that philosophy and opened Renae’s Tutoring. Focusing on creating independent learners, providing individualized instruction, and collaborating with all individuals involved in the student’s education are the things Renae found were most important in a tutoring service.

Still a stay-at-home mother to her three boys, Renae successfully operates Renae’s Tutoring in both the Northern Virginia areas of Loudoun and Fairfax County , and the Portland , Oregon areas of Clackamas and Multnomah County.

Tutors

Renae's Tutoring carefully matches the student with her hired staff of tutors. We hire only currently licensed teachers, with at least two years teaching experience. We take extra precautions into investigating a tutor's background, including reference calls, Department of Education check for current licensure, and a personal interview. Renae's Tutoring looks carefully into the teacher's specific area of expertise, to appropriately match a student with the teacher with that area of specialty.
